Mold and Colds - Mold Cleaning

Some have misunderstood black mold as being dirt or mildew. Mold and Mildew are the same, both need water to grow and a food source. Both can have spores that will cause allergies. Being around mold has caused many to have common symptoms close to a cold or flu. Be aware of mold symptoms and health effects is important to understand with black mold and mold removal. Toxic Mold or Black Mold or even mildew have all been associated to one thing, the black dirt that can appear on drywall, showers, tile, and carpeting. So it is important to understasnd how to get rid of black mold off a drywall. Mold needs a source to grow a little bit of moisture and one will begin seeing the spores amplify. Living with mold can be harful to one's health. Black mold can grow in the lungs and attach itself becoming a problem to the body. The immune system can break down and even mold has been known to be found in the blood stream.

The terms are in the same sentence because mold symptoms are very similar to cold symptoms. It can also be said that mold and colds are phrased to together because black mold can make you sick. This decrease in the immunity system will create a system to fail and breakdown.

Mold and Colds are cause mostly by having to much toxins in the system. Since mold are know to cause Fungisitis, which is known as moldgrowing in the nose. Colds become a dominant illness. The excess mucas which has spores which create fungus that can be bad to the system, especialliy if immuno-compromised. The stschybotris mold, aspergillus mold are all dominant and related with mold and colds. These are toxic molds that can thicken comfortably in homes and become an issue if not taken care of accurately.If looking for mold protection, be devout to take care of any water damage events that happen in the home or offices. If a wet drywall is left untouched and not detached, you will have black mold on your walls with in the near future. Once these toxic spores unite and sprout up they will let excrement in the air which you or your family can breathe in. Then mold and colds are working as one and induce problems in your system.

With colds, usually it is from immunity problem, stress, or over working and quite a few other things. Having mold in your system adds on to the body fighting to keep itself healthy. The mold spores will hurt the core and most likely a cold will be happening soon. Your nose will begin to get stuffy and you may have some excess mucas. The best thing to do is talk to a doctor who understands mold and you may want to look into an alternative solution such as an all natural mold removal product or hiring a qualified mold remediation company which help fond the source of the problem.

Working with Different Molds

One veteran staff member of 10 years is blind. She?d made arrangements for her employment interview via telephone so when she arrived on the appointed day with her guide dog she was greeted with quiet expressions of surprise and shock. As director, I secretly prayed that I would have the experience and sensitivity to conduct the interview properly. Let's be truthful, I was thinking how can I get through this interview and let this person down gently? If I couldn't it might be considered big time prejudice my part and I represented a very big company.

She was nervous, of course. I was more nervous. What if I did or said something wrong? So I adopted the attitude of first be a human being. We chatted and got to know a little bit about each other. She told me about her educational background and family. I did the same. I explained our program and what our goals were and asked her if she thought she might be interested in working in such an environment. Of course she did or she wouldn't have been at this interview.

I got bolder. Did she have any previous child care experience? As a matter of fact, yes she did. She'd volunteered at a daycare center while attending college and she'd taken care of her two young nieces. This opened up the entire discussion about exactly what did she do and how did she do it? And how was her guide dog handled in the presence of children? Just how did it work? I needed a crash course in working with the disabled.

In the back of my mind I was thinking that if I hired her and it didn't work out, I might be stuck with an unsuitable employee. Or perhaps worse yet, if I terminated her it might create a public relations problem or even legal problem. I was feeling very uncomfortable. Nevertheless we forged ahead.

So we agreed that she, like every other candidate we interviewed, would be allowed to work one day. At the end of that day we would talk again and see if she wanted to continue. If so, she would work one week. If she still felt she wanted to work at our center at the end of the week she would have the job.

The lead teacher she would be working with was affectionately dubbed Saint Barbara. Barbara was the only teacher I'd ever known who had found an abandoned python on the streets of New York and called the ASPCA to get help for it. I asked Barbara what thoughts she might have about turning this blind candidate into a productive staff member. She had plenty of ideas and most importantly she had an excellent attitude.

She began by taking Gladys on a tour of the room. She started from the left of the entry way and followed the walls all the way around until they had returned to the entry way. She answered all questions and asked Gladys to return the next day dressed to work.

We agreed the best place for the guide dog to stay during the course of the work day was in my office. There it would not take up space in the classroom and it would not be a distraction for the children. On the other hand, when the children were to go outside to play, the guide dog would go with them.

We embarked on an educational program so the children would understand that the guide dog was not an ordinary dog. The guide dog was a special working dog who helped Gladys come to school and go home safely.

School life at the center took on a new dimension as children, staff members, and parents learned to be more thoughtful because of Gladys. She amazed everyone with her abilities and we were totally delighted that we had been brave enough to try.

Then one day, about 9 years later, we received a new department of health inspector. She noticed the guide dog in the office and immediately said it was against the health department rules for this animal to be in a school. It, the highly trained guide dog, had to go.

The inspector and I, along with Gladys discussed the Federal Regulations regarding the Americans' Disability Act which allowed guide dogs to have access to buildings. She wasn't buying it. The guide dog was to be exiled to a building across the street. I had a big problem.

I knew the department of health inspector needed more information. I offered her a copy of the ADA Regulations. She wasn?t interested, but to placate me she said she would ask her supervisor about the dog. In the meantime, she'd upset Gladys considerably and she'd upset the rest of the staff who were very protective of Gladys, the guide dog and their legal rights.

Eventually the inspector came to understand, through her supervisor, that the Federal Law superceded our local law and the guide dog could stay. And I came to understand, once again, that building a daycare program that includes all types of people is very important.

It's easy to have a model program if everyone fits your mold. But life doesn't have one mold. And sometimes there's a lot to be learned from others.

Mold Q&A: Understanding Mold In Your Home

* How does mold enter a home?

Molds usually enter a home through spores that pass through open doorways, ventilation, windows, heating and air conditioning systems that have outdoor air intakes. The mold spores also attach themselves to humans, animals, shoes, clothing, bags and other objects that are capable of carrying spores.

When spores reach a place of moisture, especially those places where there is excessive moisture, they will attach and grow themselves. This will serve as their breeding ground. Molds usually grow in moisture rich places and those that are quite cold. The most common places where molds grow are in roofs, pipes, walls and plant pipes.

* How does mold grow?

Molds grow in different ways. Molds have tiny spores and these tiny spores have the capabilities of reproducing themselves through sexual and asexual reproduction. In sexual reproduction of mold, spores need another spore for them to reproduce. In asexual reproduction of mold, a single spore can reproduce by itself without requiring another spore.

Mold spores can reproduce themselves anywhere. They can grow and reproduce in soil, roof, and pots and even in air. Molds grow rapidly in places that have excessive moisture and have quite dim lightings.

* What kinds of health problems could there be if there is mold in my house?

Mold exposure may cause cold-like symptoms like watery eyes, sore throat, wheezing and dizziness. Allergic reaction to mold is common. It triggers asthma attacks. In addition, exposure to mold can irritate the eyes, skin, nose, throat and lungs.

Molds produce allergens, irritants and in some cases, potentially toxic substances that are dangerous to the human body.

* On what kinds of surfaces can mold grow?

Molds never choose the surface where to grow and breed; rather, they survive as long as a surface has excessive moisture. Moisture seeps through concrete walls and floors, wood and plastics and other materials that will cause dampness resulting in molds on walls, floors, carpeting and others.

The bathroom is the most susceptible place for mold growth because it is always damp. Soap scum, shower walls, ceramic tile and fiberglass are all possible surfaces for mold growth.

Basement and laundry rooms are also common for mold growth. The kitchen is also a possible site for mold.

There is no required surface for mold. Any surfaces are susceptible to mold growth if moisture is present.

* How can I reduce the humidity in my home?

Reducing the humidity at home can be done in many ways. There are simple ways that are effective in reducing the dampness at home which is the main reason of mold growth.

The following are three effective simple ways of reducing humidity at home.

* Remove standing water. * Dry out your home. * Remove wet materials.

And also insulate your home properly.

An introduction to Injection Molding.

Every plastic product you see needs to be shaped, and the most common method is Injection Molding. Most people using their computer to read this give no thought to how all those plastic parts were formed. Or how complex and expensive it is even to produce a ballpoint pen. Just about every part made of plastic these days is formed using some kind of an injection mold, from tiny precision parts that can barely be seen to large automotive exterior parts. Just about every industry relies on some kind of injection mold for their products.

Injection molding is the forcing of molten plastic into a shaping cavity. An injection molding machine has three basic components:

1)Injection. Plastic pellets are fed into a hopper and then heated up. Once they are melted they are injected under extremely high pressure into a mold.
2)Mold. This is a custom designed tool for shaping and cooling the melted plastic. Two halves are precisely designed with cavities for the shaping of the part, channels for cooling the molten plastic, and an ejection system.
3)Clamping. This is the part of the machine that holds the removable mold in place, keeps the two halves together during molding, and opens the mold for part ejection.

Molds are complex and must be of heavy-duty construction since they are subjected to a considerable amount of pressure. They are usually carved/milled out of aluminum or steel blocks and contain many different parts such as the mold base, clamp plates, support plates, ejector plates and pins, guide pins, sprue puller pins, and of course, the two cavities with channels for the molted plastic flow, cooling and/or secondary heating units. The mold is the most expensive part of injection molding, with molds ranging from a few thousand dollars to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Think about that next time you use that cheap plastic pen.

Injection molding started to catch on in the 1920s and was used for simple products such as combs, toothbrushes, and simple industrial parts. As the science of plastics and machining technology grew, molding became an increasingly popular way of manufacturing. With todays computer-controlled milling and molding machines, just about any idea or design can be shaped into plastic.

Ever wonder how they make hollow plastic spheres? Rotational molding is a mold in which after the plastic is injected, it is spun around at high speeds and then quickly cooled. Scissors and screwdrivers are made by insert molding. The metal part is suspended in the mold while the plastic flows around it. How about those plastic bottles and food containers? Those are made by blow molding. There are also other processes such as thermoforming and extrusion.
